Our Story
Briarhaven Publishing was founded on the belief that stories can help children grow with empathy, confidence, and resilience. Every book is thoughtfully created to support social-emotional learning while fostering meaningful connections between children, families, and educators.
Founded by educator and author Mel Rhodes, Briarhaven Publishing draws on nearly 20 years of classroom experience spanning early childhood through post-secondary education. Certified in Special Education and Physical Education, Mel combines real-life classroom experiences with family life as a mother of two to create stories that help children understand themselves, navigate emotions, and build strong, compassionate relationships.
